Haptic Garment
Design & Construction
Sophie Skach, an e-textiles and fashion designer, was enlisted to develop the garment housing for the electronics.
The resulting haptic garment beautifully employs modern pattern construction techniques and embroidery, in collaboration with Tara Baoth Mooney.
Electronics Design
The haptic peripherals have been designed, manufactured and integrated by Paul Hayes, a game and interactive experience developer.
The haptic peripheral is a bespoke design especially created for Mammary Mountain. It allows for localized haptic vibrations at six body locations simultaneously.
These vibrations are used to mimic sensation as well as create mood and an emotional connection to the people interviewed. The vibration motors are triggered at different intensities and patterns by the VR experience itself, at key points in the story.
